Sony Ericsson W580i

Big news for me, I FINALLY got a new phone. My previous phone was great but, just could not keep up with my physically active life style. The end result of my phone is a cracked front LCD screen, and the battery cover cracked in half and fell off (used a sticker to keep the battery in place for the past few months).  Also an unrealible ear piece due to sweat condensation getting into the phone because my pockets get sweaty when I bike. So here is the skinny on my new Sony Ericsson w580i.

So here is the box (above) and the phone (below). It is quite small, but very sleek looking. Not really what I had expected from the product photos of it online. But here it is, I chose the "Boulevard Black" color scheme with orange highlights. Screen is smaller than my previous phone (Samsung Sync). Exteral button that lock is very nice, I've had problems with my Sync that it would reject my calls when any of the external buttons were pressed. Has only happen'd once since I've had this phone.
Here it is open (Below). The screen is extreamly bright! I could actually use it as a flashlight. It comes with 2 theme that you can use from. The one I use is the "dandilion" theme, the other one is called "walkman". The walkman theme is more simplistic, as in contrast the dandilion theme is more artsy graphic designs with dandilions. Both themes have an orange color theme, I dont know if all varieties of this phone uses the color scheme, but would be nice to have some more color options.
As you can see the keyboard is on the small size. It is about the lenght of my ending thumb bone, which does make it somewhat difficult to text (im not a big texter so it dont really bother me).
Other features this phone has are some pretty intuitive apps; Photo DJ, Music DJ, Video DJ. These DJ apps are basically a very basic editing programs.

Photo DJ allows you to add effects, rotate, add Frames, Brightness & Contrast Adjustments, Red-eye Correction, and allows you to add Clip Art items.

Music DJ is pretty much just a very watered down version of Apples Garage Band app more closely related to that flash music creator game "Punk-O-Matic". It gives you 4 instrument tracks; Drum, Guitar, Piano, and Trumpet. Each track has samples of music on them and you arrange them to your audible liking, makes for a good time killer.

Video DJ is a feature I have not yet gotten a chance to use much, due to my lack of a memory stick. It's a Sony so micro SD will not work, it uses Memory Stick Micro (a mini version of the Memory Stick Duo), mines will be arriving in the mail soon (buy from amazon, it is waaaay cheaper than buying from Fry's or Best Buy unless there is a sale going on). But from the brief moments I have used the Video Recorder and Video editor, Video recording will record up to no time limit only by how much memory space is available. Quality of video is the same as an average YouTube video (pixaliated). Sound is good though, very sensitive mic. It might be too sensitive actually. As for the Video editor, It lets you Add text with no font options to your video clip with starting and ending periods on the video clip. It also gives you a few transitions to link up video clips to make a small poor quality movie.

This pretty much sums up all the features I have used since I recieved the phone in the mail (order'd through At&t website). Sound from earpiece is also good, along with a very loud speaker phone, texting is texting. nothing really fancy about that. So there you have it, my new Sony Ericsson w580i.
